A Hybrid Vigour offers a 'proposition' of landscape, in this case of snow-covered terrain. As well as being both an exploration of landscape & of drawing as an experimental act (through the use of line, surface & materiality), the role of peripheral vision in the viewing process is also taken into account.

Focused vision typically confronts the viewer with the world extending before them, reducing them to a mere spectator. However peripheral vision heightens the experience of what surrounds us, allowing for a richer spatial engagement. A tension emerges in the work when the eye can find no areas of fully resolved detail to alight on, producing a constantly shifting gaze and resulting in a sense of dislocation.
